The North Western Surfcasting Association was formed in 1992. We are one of the largest clubs dedicated to surf casting in the country. Our membership comes from a large part of the North of England (North West, North Wales, Cumbria, North East, Yorkshire and Cheshire).

With the help of our Eastern friends the standard of casting is very high with many UKSF Casters and England Internationals attending, along with producing some of the best junior casters in recent years.

We have monthly surf cast events every year starting March and ending in November. Our events are run on a group system, casters are graded when they join the club.

If you are new to the sport, you would start in group 5.This group is for beginners and anyone else casting upto 190 yds.Once you progress in distance you will move up the groups depending on your distance.Group 4 is 190 to 210,group 3 is 210 to 230,group 2 is 230 to 260 and group 1 is 260+.Once you achieve the next groups required distance twice you will be automatically promoted.If you fail to reach the groups required distance within the full season you will be put down into the group that your distances fall into.

There are trophies awarded in each group for 1st, 2nd & 3rd at each event. Points are awarded for overall position on the day and trophies are awarded annually for the best in each group.

All that you need to participate is a rod and a reel with Hi-Vis line and shockleader.The correct line is available on the day,free of charge,supplied by the club.Entrance fees are £8 per day for a day caster or for those wishing to join a £14 membership fee and then each event thereafter will be £5

We are always on the lookout for Juniors. They receive free NWSA membership and free events. Everything is free for them except the raffle.

Our fields are at Sand Villa Farm, Cockerham,LA2 0EW,near Lancaster (we have 4 available for our use) and are easy to get to from the M6, Junction 33.
